Via C&L, I see that Robert Mugabe just legalized an expansive program of electronic surveillance by citing, among others . . . the recently passed electronic surveillance bill right here in These United States. Well, it's like the French always say: Liberté, égalité, securité.

Point 1: I can imagine no more appropriate endorsement for the Bush administration's policies on civil liberties and domestic security than this well-earned endorsement.
Point ii. Given the really rockin' economy Mugabe has created and the incredible level of technical education and skill remaining in Zimbabwe after his antics over the last 10-12 years, there is no way to install, maintain or process the data.
Point C: This will be Cargo-Cult surveillance -- some camcorders without film or disks or power mounted on the side of trees and passing elephants.
Point 4. Has anyone determined if Mugabe is suffering from Alzheimers, Dementia, drug-induced psychosis or tertiary syphilis yet? I'm betting on the TS but who knows...
The surveillance is going to consist of a coke bottle that someone dropped out of an airplane.
The gods must be crazy.
Don't forget surete in there as well (damned accent tags).
