Conservatives basically concede at the outset that Palestinains are a step down from humanity on the simian scales, and thus fair game. In this opinion, they are loudly, extravagantly joined by the Peretz-Lieberman wing of the Democratic Party, which is a lot bigger than the proggle-wogglesphere is willing to admit. Our more Progressive friends, meanwhile, stick to a loud line of contentless sympathy for the Palestinian "plight." This usually resolves itself into the tired "honest broker" palaver, in which the United States assumes the role of the FMCS, the Israelis play management, and the Palestinians play the aggrieved minor union. Eventually everyone agress on a wage freeze in the first year, 3% after that, and some relief on minimum hours. Democratic politicians must walk the line between these positions, and so they engage in a lot of one-hand-or-otherism that invariably comes down on the side of overloud reaffirmations of Israel's "right to defend itself."
But from Old MacDonald's farm to the disputed frontiers of central Asia, the "right to defend" oneself is basically taken for granted, so you can be sure when you hear the phrase spoken aloud that something is up. In ol' Fayette County of rural Southwestern PA--coal country--where your IOZ was born and raised, the right to defend oneself was every gun yaboo's phrase for "shoot that nigger crackhead when he strays to close to my property line." The insistence on reassuring ourselves and the Israelis and the world that Israel possesses this right is the giveaway. The mediator is always on the side of management, fellows.

the "progressives" give less than a shit about Palestinians. A friend of mine wrote about a negative post about Israel at the Daily Kos and was promptly kicked off the site.
Israel is drowning the Palestinians and when the Palestinians kick and scream, a natural reaction to being drown, the Israelis tell the international community "see, they are kicking and screaming! We can't stop drowning them until they stop kicking and screaming." Only the US seems to buy this.
if only the Palestinians had some deep-pocket lobbies that were able to throw tons of money at our pols. maybe then our worthless pols would at least pretend to give a shit about their plight.
Sheesh, Israel needs to hurry up with that drowning, I'm getting annoyed by all the prolonged kicking and screaming. I think some German efficiency is what's called for.
"Conservatives basically concede at the outset that Palestinains are a step down from humanity on the simian scales, and thus fair game. "
Actually this is wrong and hence the rest of the rant is useless.
Anti-semite!
I think a lot of issues could've been negated if the Jews thought Montana was God's gift to their people. I hear there's a lot of room out there. Oh, and they wouldn't be surrounded by people who want to kill them. Maybe some Canadians.
not just the US, but anyone willing to become a client state. the washington/tel aviv consensus ain't dead!
Conservative pro-Zionists still try to take the high-ground with regard to the humanitarian problems in Gaza.
"the 'right to defend' oneself is basically taken for granted"
... unless one is 'Palestain', or Lebanese, or Iranian, or Iraqi ... in which case there is no such right. Never had it, never will. The un-people.
