Mr. Bush, though, spoke broadly of the promise of peace, while praising the American alliance with Israel as a guarantee of “Israel’s security as a Jewish state.”And there you have it: America's committment to stand astride demography yelling, "Stop!"

What he meant was, it's a guarantee of "AIPAC's security as a Jewish lobby."
Please tell me this isn't another Knute Rockne inspirational story.
and then he danced with little children waving flags.
I never understood why here in America all of our politicians (rightly) praise multiculturalism and tolerance, acceptance of all religions, etc. (at least superficially... there are the Mike Huckabee "Christian Nation" types, but they're usually denounced by all Good Progressive types). Yet when it comes to Israel, everyone from "San Francisco Liberal" Nancy Pelosi to George Bush praises its status as a country set aside just for the jews -- muslims be damned (I mean, they're all terrists, right?)
Would they go to any other country in the Middle East, like say Saudi Arabia, and pledge to uphold and defend its status as a "muslim nation"? I think not.
Ok, maybe I do understand why that is...
I'll gladly stand out and say "Israel for jews and Saudi Arabia for muslims!". I don't live anywhere near there, after all.
I think a couple million horny Arab Muslims have something else in mind.
