Barack Obama is a little bitch, but I would vote for his preacher in a second.
Question: How do you become today's Obama when this was your "spiritual advisor"?
Or does it explode?

Right on ma brotha!
As if on cue, CSPAN led off this morning with a segment on Obama's preacher.
Wolcott (by way of Wayne Barrett at the Village Voice) foretold this was to come to pass.
"Hillary ain't never been told she weren't White enough."
Amen.
this man is an unamerican and an traiter!!!1!
this one time he asked some people "which country do you think poses the greatest threat to global peace: iraq or the u.s.?"
wtf, "peace"? there isn't a world peace so how can u.s. threat it?
We did invade another country without provocation and are threatening another country.
Seems like a threat to world peace to me.
DaveG---
Yeah, just like family reunions are a threat to universal brotherhood.

Don't worry montag, we got your back.
The more I listen to this man the better he sounds, although IOZ's point is well taken.
How did the Obama camp not expect the "FOX virus" to mutate around this man and his Nation of Islam associations?
A blind man could have seen this coming.
Related question: How did Religion become a litmus test for selecting a qualified Commander and Chief?
By the standards of today Lincoln would have dropped out of the Race right around the time Dennis did.

TT, God is an l337 haxx0r, and being omniscient, has access to the source code for the voting machines, and cares very deeply about the sanctity of the white house.
God, that guy is GREAT.
I’m HOPING that these are Obama's real views. I’m hoping.
I was going to reluctantly vote for him. I’m still not THRILLED by him, but now I can do so without holding my nose so tight.
You know, it's not a Pastor's job to say nice things about America.
I would actually be kind of suspicious of a Christian leader who DIDN'T go off on America, because the country doesn't really follow any of the Christian values I know about. We don't stone heretics and we don't believe in giving all our money to the poor.
Maybe, just maybe, Obama's sentient enough to know that if he acted too much like his preacher, he never would've got beyond the Illinois statehouse?
I know that's not as satisfying as saying he's a little bitch, though.

Yeah, because their isn't 100% peace all the time worldwide the US is incapable of increasing the amount of conflict.
I mean, you couldn't just be making a stupid semantics argument about whether the term "world peace" means complete world peace, or just the amount of world peace overall, could you?
daveg: Not to speak for him, but I think he is kidding.
I agree with above. I owuld be MORE inclined to vote for Obama now.
i will not fight you, daveg.
daveg:
Get some sleep son. Give it a rest.
Calling someone's point "stupid" won't further yours.
As the Monsieur is fond of saying:
Sell crazy somewhere else; we're full up here.
Goes for stupid, too.
TT
DaveG:
Don't get your knickers in a twist---it's just that "world peace" is not a concept one sees used in that manner outside of junior high school essays or beauty pageants.

Even though the obvious purpose of so gleefully running these clips is to try to make the public scared of the Angry Black Man (and suggest Obama is a secret one himself), they may have forgotten that much of the public is, in fact, black.
Well, whether or not it has its intended effect, it is nice that these sorts of views are getting some national exposure. Usually these truths cannot be voiced in big media for fear of not being considered a "serious" person; sure it's in the context of a political hatchet job, but I wonder if some of the thoughts might just stick around in some viewers' minds. When it comes to memes, any publicity really is good publicity.
As for how today's Obama came from this spiritual advisor... I still have no idea what Obama really stands for (other than taking loads of money from the military industrial complex). I mean, maybe Obama really is secretly an Angry Black Man working undercover to bust the system from within. That'd be awesome! But clearly that's a fantasy too good to be true.
My best guess is that it was a tactical choice to keep Wright so close for so long. I mean, until this thing blew up, the dude was officially on Obama's staff. Obama's no fool, TT-- clearly he saw this coming, and furthermore, wanted this day to come.
Obama is a master of giving people just enough tidbits of evidence to sucker them into projecting the rest. I mean, this is a guy who praises Ronald Reagan one day, then says that "The Wire" is his favorite show the next.
Regardless of whether Obama actually agrees with his ex-spiritual advisor on these things, association with Wright boosts Obama's standing with a lot of people. (Cf. the commenter above who wrote "I’m still not THRILLED by him, but now I can do so without holding my nose so tight".) Meanwhile, by "harshly repudiating" these views, he still preserves the support of the more tepid liberals who are shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, at Wright's barbaric incivility.
Off topic, IOZ, and not that you're opening up the listener lines for requests, but I'd really be interested to see your treatment of a favorite topic among pwoggies: the economic boycott. Personally, I don't see how censorship via corporate sponsor is much different from the old-fashioned government kind.
Bakunin's last question: Because there are no polce squads banging on your door at midnight because you criticized Dear Leader. Rancid talk show hosts are serving at the pleasure of their actors. These corporate sponsors have no "right" to our business. Talk show hosts also have no constitutional "right" to a media pulpit. I'm sure Melanie Morgan is still babbling her vile nonsence to all her friends and at whatever Wingnut Welfare institution she ends up at.
Yes, Brian, but I somehow doubt all the trained flying monkeys who are on standby, ready to threaten advertisers with a boycott, are actually consumers of whatever product/service of which they say they'll never partake again. Call me a cynic if you will.
I'm not shedding any tears for Morgan per se - I'm questioning the wisdom of creating a state of affairs where only the most banal and anodyne statement can avoid the aforementioned flying monkey attack.
These corporate sponsors have no "right" to our business. Talk show hosts also have no constitutional "right" to a media pulpit.
That's kind of a technicality, don't you think? People don't have any "right" to publish books, either. Maybe we should start threatening publishers with boycotts of anything else they put out if they publish books by Coulter, Savage, et. al.
In fact, let's make it so that only filthy rich people can say what they want since they can finance their own media platforms. I'm looking forward to Bill Gates, Donald Trump, and Richard Mellon Scaife being the dj's on my ride in every morning!
The liberals cheering this sort of thing on are the same ones who thought it was so horrible what the Dixie Chicks went through. They don't have a "right" to a musical career, ya know...
I know that's not as satisfying as saying he's a little bitch, though.

Ioz isn't interested in logic, sglover.
Boycotts and boycott threats are a great idea. They're a valuable market corrective. The opinion consumers should use them to give feedback to their content providers and purveyors. I 'specially encourage the pwogs and wingnuts to have it with a will. It's the truest form of political expression open to them. The very worst that could come of their boycott war is a period of creative destruction. I, for one, would welcome that.
The disciplinary aspect of widespread, aggressive boycotts is also a useful remedy for the problems that come from over-concentration of ownership and centralized content control. The stations and networks that want to stay afloat will have to expand their offerings. Syndicated cretin shows will no longer be sufficient to keep them going. The advertisers will benefit from an increase in target audiences. The ad agencies will have a broader, more reliable fee base and will have to hire new talent to meet the demand.
It may be blue sky thinking, but with enough creative destruction Randi Rhodes and Rush Limbaugh could be driven off the air and find a repulsive, but rewarding, form of love. Together, as victims. Who among us could deny them that much?

Use the link IOZ has provided to check out what Dennis Perrin is saying about the Right Reverend.
Shorter version: "Jeremiah Wright's supposedly inflammatory statements about 9/11 and the ongoing specter of racism are uncontroversial to those following the real world."
Word.
Uncle John
Whoah, pwoggies may not be following their script.
Some dewd over at TPMCafe (DF) has posted - and it has been picked up by Commondreams.org - that, and I quoteth: Truth Time: Wright is Right.
Truth?
Haven't finished the entire piece, so blown away am I by the audacity of his courage. I'll be shocked, shocked I tell you, if he agrees that Jesus was a Black Man.
Malcom X...now there was a Black Man. "And when one is moderate in the pursuit of Justice for human beings, I say he's a sinner."
I'm listening to the first Wright video clip there, and he's full of shit. Jesus was not black; arguably he wasn't white, but neither were those Eyetalians. Nor did they control everything in Jesus' country; they used local proxies. It's likely that until Jesus went to Jerusalem (where he sided with the enemy -- "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's" probably would not have gone down well with the Jewish resistance of the day), he'd never seen a Roman.
No, I'm not gonna get too excited about this guy. He's not a monster, nudge nudge wink wink, but I wouldn't vote for him either.
Lou Byanka-In your former life, did you nom de interplume begin with the letters S, C, and R?
I hope so, 'cause your style is inimitable!
frantz-I disagree with your arguments. heck, only the rich and connected automatically have their say in today's world already. I would point out that the dixie Chicks did continue to have a "career," maybe not as lucrative as their old one, but then, nobody said "free" speech is without consequences.
Melanie Morgan will do just fine, anyway. heck, she's married to the director of a megawatt clear channel station. She is not the oppressed.
Can I, however, confess that I love Randi Rhodes just a bit. I know, the shame knows no boundaries. She is certainly more listenable than the horrible and inusffe4rable Stephanie Miller. Ms. Miller would be enough to drive me to Rush. Drivel + BAD radio skills.
'to robbery, butchery & rapine, they give the name "government"; they create a desolation and call it peace' [Tacitus]
I just can't understand how someone who is half white can be so racist like this shit makes me sick and its like a black verson of the KKK, the arts and entertainment are completly run by black people i dont know what the hell this redneck is talking about its called rap and hip hop and if you can't identify that your ignorant and how he's saying blacks have no opportunities thats an excuse and totally untrue. me as a white male i have less opportunity because its hard to get jobs because of racial diversity, any employer would hire a black male over me any day and thats bull shit.. like let this shit go, i mean everything this guy is hung up on happened hundreds of years ago My generation didn't do it its time to stop blaming others and manning up and taking responsibilities for your actions i'm not racist or anything i have a bunch of black friends i just don't think someone should run their campain on the color of their skin, don't you think that is racist? and jesus is not black if anything he's aladian status like come on man like this is bull shit like quit hating on other people isn't this guy suppose to be a precher? like all this identifing and classification is what really draws us apart and we need to focas on shit like gas prices and things that will help our economy not some american idol campaign garbage
