Good God, is this why we elected a Democratic majority in 2006? So they can continue to enable the Bush administration as more and more independent sources have verified the criminality that we’ve claimed correctly all along?Dearest Nicole,

Yes.

"B-b-b-but," sputter the stalwart Donks, "don't you understand, this just means we need more and better Democrats™ instead of that nasty little man Hoyer."
For shame, IOZ. What this means is that good-hearted noble Democrats will work on a primary challenge to Hoyer, which will then fail. And then they'll all vote for him in the general anyway 'cause after all, better he should keep his job than a Republican get in office, 'cause who knows what they'd do!
The best posts on Daily Kos are those indignantly titled, "Barack Obama, We're Not Your Bitches!" Seriously, there are at least 3 diaries with some variation on this. Is this what happens after the afterglow dissipates?
wait -- wasn't this obvious from well before 2006, when pelosi promised not to cut off funds for the wars?
still and yet, eyes are beginning to open that yes, this is what we voted for in 2006
There's a plan to protest. They'll vote Democrat, but they'll pull the lever/push the button/punch the chad with contempt, and the psychic eminations alone will cause all the evil people to quake in their boots.
Good Gawd:
We got a twofer yesterday.
Big Dems also capitulated on the War funding, with Ms. Nancy waving the white flag while whining about having to give "this President" another blank check.
Like not mentioning him by name soooo gets him back for being such a meanie.
And the Donklesphere keeps soliciting donations....
Pathetic doesn't begin to describe them.

I know I'm late to the party, Ioz, but I much much prefer the old background. But then my power to affect the outcome on this site is nil.
Nobody cares, but the complete incoherence on the part of Democratic commentators about how to deal with bad politicians is one of the major forces that drives me away from that party.
There's a cynicism to the party; most Dem bloggers pretty much expect things like the FISA bill to pass with only a handful of Democrats arguing against it, but at the same time they howl and scream if anybody suggests that the proper response is to just stop supporting the Democrats.
It's some weird collective battered spouse syndrome; the Dems keep hitting them and then saying, "I'm sorry honey, I didn't mean it" and the voters keep coming back for more.
I kind of understand that; Obama may be an imperialist fucker but if he handles the next big natural disaster better then McCain would that's still something. If you elect the guy who's a tiny iota better then at least you get a shiny new iota to play with.
But they spit on anybody who wants to leave the relationship. Anybody who says, "You know what? It takes more then an iota to get my support" is not just making a different choice, not just wrong, but an evil scumbag who's gonna destroy the country.
I just don't get it. They mercilessly mock the phrase "objectively pro-terrorist" and then accuse people of being objectively pro-republican without even noticing a contradiction. It drives me batty.
Oh, come on, it's all good. Atrios has dubbed Obama "Wanker of the Day" for his support of this compromise. I'm sure Barack will reverse himself soon once he picks himself up off the floor with the help of some smelling salts.
A system of...head slapping?
Listening to Scott Simon and Dan Schor(sp?) on NPR this morn...hope is not a strong enough drug.
Who's holding out there?

I want my clown hat now, please.
If Goldstein is the a potential outcome of sexual reproduction, we'd all be *crazy* not to exercise our preferential option for faggotry.
What's that you say? Thursday's post? Mebbe I just got confused....
and what was Miss Belle's recommendation for action/inaction on this issue?
Don’t take this lying down. McJoan has some ideas of what you can do, including asking our new putative head of the Democratic Party, Presidential Nominee Barack Obama, to kill this before it comes to a vote:
Call Barack Obama and urge him to make a public statement reiterating his opposition to telco amnesty. His opposition could kill this deal: Phone (202) 224-2854, Fax (202) 228-4260
Of course, a speech will solve this problems, because, as we all know, WORDS MATTER. To four more years of tom-foolery!
