The Wilderness

Ha ha! Exactly twelve seconds after losing every election except for some dogcatcher post in Idaho, the Grand Old Party rediscovers fiscal conservativism and obstruction! Aux barricades!

One of the thing interesting things that Mao did after the revolution was to take the guns away from the peasants. They used the weapons to kill wolves -- but, Mao figured that they could use them to kill communist functionaries, and from his perspective, that was a bad thing.

It would be hard to get the farmers and factory workers in this country to give up their guns. So, as Detroit and Dearborn and other points around the country descend into chaos, the locals will be armed and ready to do whatever it is they do. Aux barricades, indeed.

Watch. We'll have John Boehner advocating gun control after a few thousand Ohio autoworkers lose their homes after they lose their jobs, pensions and houses and start shooting at Congressmen who sold them out. Of course, the Republicans hope that the triumph of the stupid will continue...however, Rush Limbaugh aside, nobody will damn the Dems for the failure of the Big 3.

It is interesting. Since I work in the service side of the defense industry, I'm reasonably safe. As a result, I guess my next car will be a Boxster instead of a Challenger. The dollar is getting better, gas is going down and life is sucking rocks...but, if you have a little money, you can get more. If you have none, you're fucked. Not a lot different than before, of course, except we're going to see more and more people with none, squabbling, howling and scratching over nothing...
