David Brooks like totally like hates Bobby Jindal. Meanwhile Barack Obama remains Superjesus Black Reagan. He's got good delivery. Let's not say otherwise.
The . . . what would the Teevee call it? . . . optics were embarrassing. Congress? Men fit to be slaves, as Tiberius would've had it. All that leaping up to applaud. Watching adults seek to ingratiate themselves in so obsequious a manner makes me a bit queasy. What must this Roman spectacle look like to the rest of the world? The Elder Gods of the Senate may just have better quads than me, and I make yoga every goddamn day, what with all that rising and reposing. Lord above, it reminded me of High Holy Day services in my youth, except that we stood to acknowledge God and His Torah. Purim, appropriately, is right around the corner.

And it gets better: Biden's son and brother ran a hedge fund that did exclusive business with...current evil Mexican Allen Stanford!

Have you never seen a State of the Union before? Superjesus Black Reagan has nothing to do with it; this is part and parcel of how we're expected to worship the president every year.
Christopher M.:
Hardly. The rapture with which Obama was received hasn't been seen for quite some time. I don't recall anything like last night during the Bush years, which actually goes to show how much more dangerous Obama is: Even the morons in Congress, even the ones who carried his water willingly and enthusiastically never really respected Shrub. Even cretins like Inhofe clearly held themselves in higher intellectual and personal regard than their President, even if they were trying to bully the other party into swearing fealty to the Idiot King. Now we have a dude who is most likely the smartest dude to have ever come out of Congress and into the White House in the modern era, plus he's slick in a way that makes you feel good about liking him, even though you know he's full of shit, and without the undercurrent of "I'm being had" that you got from Bubba. Now, I'm not saying being able to get the bunch of nitwits who comprise Congress to bow before you is a feat worthy of praise or recognition, but there is a marked difference in the reception Barry got and perfunctory, almost sarcastic praise Dubya tended to receive.
I gotta say, much as I find Obama's shtick to be laughably transparent, I'm kind of enjoying the show. Hell, Fox News even rebutted Dear Leader's claim that America invented the car with an article giving credit to the French and the Germans for innovating before us! I mean, shit, that is some hee-larious shit right there kids, Fox News going out of it's way to call b.s. on the President giving undue credit to America and big upping the French in the process. Cognitive dissonance ahoy!
he must use axe body spray.
he must use axe body spray.
so the differences between our parties have been whittled down to:
axe v. old spice

Jesus Christ. How can you bear to write like this? It's fucking wearying to read. I can't imagine how exhausting it must be to actually make it pass from your brain to your fingers.
To our epicurian host:
I don't know where you found all these nifty new toys in the comments section, but please let us keep them

Maybe in the Tacitus, I can't remember, but I'm pretty sure that Suetonius had the line as "men fit only to be slaves". Anyway, I read that whole motherfucker in Latin back in the day but in keeping with the spirit of this comments section, I won't look it up. Assertion all the way, brothers!
