Der Ring des Niggerbum

Do you know the story of Frank Ricci? Born with a club foot to a gypsy apothecary and an aquatic Manimal, he was struck deaf and dumb at the tender age of twenty-three by a case of virulent retardation, but by studying hard and joining some union or something, he became a firefighter, standing 20 hand at the shoulder. Then a black negro snuck into his lonely widow's walk and stole his precious, magical ring, transforming into a great dragon and destroying the village. Oh no, there were no firefighters! Barack Obama and Sonia Sotomayor had imprisoned all the white people, leaving only shiftless blacks, lazy Mexicans, and the Japanese, who consider it shameful to fight fires. So, so shameful. To their ancestors.

Born to an aquatic Manimal, whatever tf that is, was he? I'm surprised he made it to 23 before he went looney toons. Did Darwin weigh in on such freak occurances?

Not to mention this is news about the Japanese..... and their reluctance......to fight fires.... But who am I to judge? Do I even dare to eat a peach?

this sentence slayed me tho:
Liberalism, a movement in which I hold a conditional membership, would be wise to get wise to what has happened.

Isn't that article based on a scene from 'American History X'?

I love this part:

"For most Americans, race has become supremely irrelevant. Everyone knows this. Every poll shows this."

Yep, and correlations between race, prison sentencing, income, life expectancy, education, etc. all bear this out... err... wait.

Race is "supremely" irrelevant to upper-middle class suburban whites who are so privileged as to be able to ignore its existence. And when ugly reality does intrude on their bubble, cries of "reverse discrimination" immediately start flying.

Motherfucker!

Can't you at least warn people when a link is going to take them to little Dickie Cohen? Jay-zus, where's an OSHA inspector when you need one?!?

Well, y'see, Bolo, polls show pretty conclusively that most American whites believe that racial discrimination (against blacks, natch) is not a problem anymore. I don't think that's limited to upper-class suburban whites. And most blacks think that racial discrimination still is a problem; but they're not "most Americans." Since blacks are a special interest with an axe to grind, unlike whites (in the minds of people like Richard Cohen), good white people like Richard Cohen can dismiss their opinion and rest assured that we have conquered racism -- except racism against whites, and now we must put our shoulder to the wheel and conquer that.

Why does a guy named Cohen care so much how low someone bows their head before St. Peter?

You're so disrespectful IOZ. President Garfield died for equitable hiring & promotion in munincipal service in accordance with collectively bargained contracts. Never again would we tolerate ascension in public service based on non-merit-based factors, like being related to the President.

Also, I think there was one Hispanic in New Haven who was denied a promotion, but as a young man he was bit by a radioactive George Wallace, thus giving him the desert of ten elderly colorblind Inuit hermaphrodite Jehovah's Witnesses that served in Nam.

"...Then a black negro snuck into his lonely widow's walk and stole his precious, magical ring.."

Ah, no. It was the gods (in the form of the New Haven City Council) that stole his ring, but I quibble.

Seems to me that the solution to this is to dispense with the niceties and legalities and return to patronage, with black firefighters being the irish cops of the 21st century or somesuch.

Really, regardless of whether one cares about group fortunes, the position taken by the City is laughable--"nothing to see here, folks, nothing at all."

Laugh it up, gentlemen, but IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!

Just a week or so ago I had written a post on employment & desert and I'm kicking myself for not linking it here earlier. There but for the grace of god
