One boss, two boss, old boss, new boss

Watching La Digs try her hand at shepherding is glorious indeed. She continues to harangue certain lefty voters, whom she persists in believing were responsible for Al Gore's double-aught pseudo-loss to Kennebunkport's most prodigal sometimes son (they weren't), even as she concedes that the "mushy centrism of the Clinton years" drove them away, even as she modestly rages that the mushy centrism of the Obama year is doing the same. Why anyone would expend so much energy assuring a voting group that it is mandatory for them to endorse candidates who are sure to sell them out is rather beyond me, but it makes for an enjoyable entertainment.

Off topic, as they say, but check out Counterpunch's front page -- Cockburn compares Novak to -- guess who? -- Hunter S. Thompson, calling Novak the right's "gonzo."

You are so ahead of the curve. Or maybe old man Cockburn just stole the idea from you....

Now we see the ennui inherent in the system. I'm hazily beginning to suspect that there is no great man who will rescue us.

Oh, and has anyone ever seen Alexander Cockburn and IOZ together? I certainly haven't. In retrospect, "Cockburn" probably should have been a giveaway.

Must have had something to do with Nutroots Nation. All of a sudden the pwoggie blogs are trying to kick their peons into line and make them cough up for some Act Blue piece of shit. It's the demotard version of pay for play, but without any play.

Using Banksy to illustrate anything other than Banksy is crap is an unwise decision.

Here's my two cents :) Your continued villification of those that supported Nader in 2000 (see Ioz, et al.) is truly lulzworthy

Had Nader not run in 2000 Gore would have won and today every last one of us would have a rainbow unicorn.
Now you may find rainbow unicorns mockable, but I want mine, damn it!

Sorry, but I missed the part where she wrote that it's "mandatory" for us to support the Democrats. Could you point that sentence out for me, please?

A little touchy, aren't we? Do you often feel you're being "villified"?

I'm sure I'm missing all kinds of nasty barbs aimed at us Nader 2000 voters, but all I saw is basically the same argument I used with angry Dems after the 2000 election, which was: "Damn right I put Bush in the White House, and I'll do it again if you don't kneel down and cater to my every whim!" Lots more fun than pretending you don't have any influence over anything.

I really don't care, but the pwahgs have demonstrated time and time again they revel in feeding the hand that slaps them.

As for the rest of it, there were a lot more Dems that voted for Bush than for Nader...which is why I find all the thanksralphery so amusing!

Pretending you do have influence DOES sound pretty fun. Roleplaying isn't for everyone though

I often feel I'm being vitrified, but only when someone's told me to "stay glassy."

pwahgs

Okay, could we at least standardize the term used for mocking the indistinguishable Monolithic Left(TM)? "Pwoggie" makes some sense, with its contemptuous invocation of a Peter Cook vibe. I'm not even sure how to pronounce "pwahg."

Of course, if it's a term of scorn specifically for "pwogressive bloggers," I withdraw my objection and hail the coiner as a linguistic genius.

Uh, Steve-O, she might not be silly enough to think she can order people to vote this way or that, but it would seem clear by the nature of her anecdote that she sees no point in resisting your duty to support the lesser of two evils. She's sorta like Sisyphus without the self-awareness.

Look, it's all quite simple once you understand Digby's premises:

1. The Democrats exist to advance Leftist causes.

2. Therefore, when the Democrats fail to even pretend to try to advance Leftist causes and in fact actively work to undermine them, it confuses some weak-minded Leftists, who end up thinking (absurdly) that the Democrats won't advance Leftist causes, and they end up voting for loony egomaniacs who are totally irrelevant and laughable, and who also destroyed the world in 2000.

3. This is the only reason why it's important for the Democrats to at least pretend to try to advance Leftist causes, because otherwise those weak-minded Leftists will veer off course, and we won't get the Democrats in power, and since the Democrats advance Leftist causes, those causes won't get advanced.
