Credit Where, Dude?

Well, although I still find his views on most subjects abhorrent, I am obliged to admit that Matt Y. displays shocking good sportsmanship by linking this little weblurgh today.

He's hoping you'll call off the attack!

That he liked it is a critique in disguise. If he's taking your position, your position bears further introspection and analysis.

Was it you (it may have been Jim Henley [or possibly Thoreau]) who said something about Yglesias - loathsome tho' he may be most of the time - is actually quite good when he points out there actually *are* things that the USofA cannot do? Y'know, contra what he calls the "Green Lantern Theory of Geopolitics"?

I can't believe I know that. I am filled with self-loathing.

IOZ's getting access to the channels of power in the liberal blogosphere. Will this be the end of monsieur's outsider status?

IOZ's takedown of Katrina Vandywhatsit was mentioned in Paul Streets Znet column today. Obviously, Street's closer to a fellow traveler (though not an anarchist by any means) but still it speaks to Monsieur's rising profile which can't be a bad thing.

*cue "Blogger Getting Famous montage, which shows IOZ's fame getting to him by showing him not partaking in huge amounts of blow, and suddenly being nice to people*

Barry Freed for the win.

This makes about as much sense as Matt's politics.

The comments thread at Matt's is not to be missed. A good sample,

“There are plenty of people in the world who could use a pair of boots.”

There sure are, but one wonders if they’d wear them. My roommate did relief work in Cambodia for five years. He became friends with a ten year old boy. The boy was always barefoot, so he bought him a pair of Nike shoes. Nikes are made in Thailand, so they are cheap in Cambodia. The kid tied the laces together and wore the shoes around his neck as a status symbol. They were too valuable to actually wear. After that, my roommate gave up trying.

Those stupid Cambodians!

I think Yggy found his visit here so traumatizing it's induced a variation of Stockholm Syndrome.

That, and, deep down, no tool wants to think he's a tool.

If anything could possibly induce a professional crisis, it's his comments section right now.

Let them see what is on the end of that long blawg spoon.

It could simply be that Yglesias isn't petty enough to hold personal grudges over political arguments, and he just happens to agree with IOZ on this point, thus he said so.

Crazy, I know. What could I have been thinking?
