Jusfolks

Oh man, Rick Sanchez sez that the Juice run the media, and the Juice-run media fires Rich Sanchez. The proof is in the kugel!

Actually, having listened to the comments in question, it seems to me that Sanchez didn't actually mean that the American media is run by a bunch of Jews like Jon Stewart, but that it's run by a bunch of smug, self-congratulatory, Ivy-boys like Jon Stewart. That's both more true and less objectionable, and on the whole, I think that any millionaire media personality with the balls to go on air and jerk off his working class background is worth keeping on the payroll just for shits and gigs.

W&M ain’t an Ivy. It may be old, but so’s Rutgers, and that ain’t one neither.

IOZ said...

I didn't mean to suggest that Stewart was literally an Ivy alum.

"...everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they — the people in this country who are Jewish — are an oppressed minority? Yeah."

That reads pretty plainly. "they" are the people who run CNN and "all the other networks", and "they" are then defined as "the people in this country who are Jewish".

But maybe the emphasis is different in the original German. (I keed! I keed!)

... then why did you call him an "Ivy-boy"?

Stewart was threatening castration. Are we gonna split hairs here?

I thought the liberal media was in cahoots with the Islamic president to impose communism?

I'm confused.

Well Sanchez didn't mean to suggest that Stewart was literally Jewish. He was using "Jewish" in the sense of "William and Mary graduate." But everybody-who-runs-CNN wasn't hip enough to get the code.

I'm not sure why it's still verboten to state the obvious: the over-representation of successful people of Jewish background in media/arts/science/etc.

Oh wait, yes I do - it is uber verboten to bring up anything that in any way lends credence to genetic differences between ethic groups.

Yeah, how come we can't address the genetic makeup of, say, utilitarians, or walzerian war apologists? I sense afootness.

A genetic analysis of rich white people indicates that they have a greater genetic propensity to emerge, genetically, from rich white vaginas.

Juice killed his wife and is doing time for beating up a football card nerd so he don't have time to run the media no more.

Anon 10:33 must be the not-Inkberrow one who's obsessed with IQ scores and the Bell Curve while knowing jack-diddly-shit about genetics. You know, anon, since you've made it to the internet, it's not too hard to find plenty of sources explaining exactly what's wrong with that bullshit.

Is Sanchez the guy who used to be a gay porn star? Or am I confusing him with someone else?

Since heebophobia is not illegal, it cannot be said to be "verboten," only objectionable. And since you object to the objectioning, you are, by your own measure, engaging in prior restraint. Which, for your information, the Supreme Court has roundly rejected.

I'm staying. I'm going to finish my coffee. Enjoying my coffee...

Anon @ 9:17---

I've never once claimed to know Jack-Diddly about genetics. I don't. I do know something about statistics, testable aptitudes and accomplishments, and mod-prog shibboleths, however. Why, are they all related or something?

Meanwhile Sanchez' remarks, while petulant and self-serving in his own case, are nothing but the distaff side of Conan O'Brien's standard-issue cracks at the Emmys about gays and Jews. Standard establishment ad absurdum bait 'n switch, joined here by IOZ? In order to sanctimoniously downplay the outsized Jewish influence in the media-entertainment complex, they pretend a sinister "Jewish Control" was posited---gosh, just like in the "Protocols"!

So, knowing statistics allows one to understand how genes relate to human behavior? Some trick!

Rojo said...

Ok, I don't usually weight in on the literature threads (or many others, actually), but if anonymous's link at 10:13 is "how it's done" than "how it's done" is apparently conducted by extensively quoting from a horrendously self-involved Franzen essay that indicts itself and throwing in entirely banal observations that either were evident already from the quoted passage or have no relevance. Much like Franzen, Gass, or Gaddis. I couldn't make it through the whole post, however, so perhaps I missed some revelatory point at the end.

Ick.

Genes have no bearing on determining a human's physical capabilities and limitations? Even better trick!

What I wanna know is why the genetic determinists (Inkberrow and his anonymous ilk) hang around here in the first place. Does this seem like the sort of place that'd be welcoming to them? Is there a sign on the wall I didn't notice? Or do they just like the abuse?

I'm a guest here myself, of course, so I'm cool with whoever's at the party. But, y'know, it's like Lenin said ...

Anonymous said...

what did Lenin say? "Every cook has to learn how to govern the state?" "One man with a gun can control 100 without one?" Or "If Socialism can only be realized when the intellectual development of all the people permits it, then we shall not see Socialism for at least five hundred years"???

Anonymous said...

As one of the ilk I hang around here because IOZ is funny and makes fun of progressives and Glenn Beck. And all for free, can't beat it. Why do you think that has any bearing on the truth that genes determine how our bodies are built, (which includes brain structure, which puts a limit on cognitive ability, which can be measured roughly by IQ, which time after time shows group differences between what are colloquially called 'races')?

Inkberrow said...

Prof. Coldheart---

There may be "genetic determinists" here for aught I know, but as applied to me anyway the label is inapt, and coming without evidence in support from the likes of you, purely pretextual. The writing here is sharp and interesting, especially our host's, while the occasional chore of shooting fish in a barrel is abuse I can certainly live with. Achievement gaps are phenomena of culture, the lower ranges a function of socio-political and educational malaise. Assigning responsibility therefor is the issue for debate.

And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

Michael Dawson said...

Here's a statistical fact for you: There is a very strong and tight negative correlation between an individual's propensity to appeal to genes as determinants of complex human behaviors and the quality of that same individual's knowledge of the scientific study of genes as determinants of complex human behaviors.

The more somebody runs their genetic mouth, in other words, the higher the chance they don't know a single serious thing about actual genetic reality.

And positing that one's opponents say the impact of genes is zero is another common indicator of that negative correlation.

Who wrote the tests, fuckwad? You'd do shitty on a Maori warrior's exam, fer sure.

Not to mention that lower test scores among, say, african-americans, couldn't possibly have anything to do with HUNDREDS OF YEARS OF OPPRESSION IN WHICH WE MADE IT ILLEGAL TO TEACH THEM TO READ AND THEN LEFT THEM IN HORRIBLE POVERTY, now could it? No, you must just be superior. Go shoot your genetically perfect sperm in the face of someone who thinks it makes you worth a rat's ass.

"HUNDREDS OF YEARS OF OPPRESSION IN WHICH WE MADE IT ILLEGAL TO TEACH THEM TO READ"

lol. That retarded statement doesn't get any less retarded by holding down the Shift key. So now because great great grandpa wasn't allowed to read, this handicap was magically passed down to Tyrone today? Is this like the homeopathic theory of IQ?

Enron said...

"So now because great great grandpa wasn't allowed to read, this handicap was magically passed down to Tyrone today?"
You know, publicly funded child pens in Potomac are way awesomer than those in the District. I wonder why that is.

Anonymous said...

Oh Enron, don't even try to pretend that DC doesn't spend more public school money per student (even in da hood) than anywhere else. But I guess Tyron's body thetans keep those slavery memories, making him think it's still illegal to read.

lol@inkberrow. Society is Lamarckian.

Michael Dawson said...

Oh yeah. I forgot.

The I-know-genes-because-I-(claim to)-know-statistics crowd isn't any better with history or present sociological realities than it is with genes.

Inkberrow said...

Anon @ 3:19---

You're kidding! Are genes inherited too?

Anonymous said...

That's what's so funny. Darwin and Lamarck both had evolutionary theories that were ultimately inspired by Enlightenment progressivism. But the Darwinian model doesn't help us understand the expression of socially determined characteristics and Lamarck doesn't work for genetic reproduction. The complexity is that human beings more than other species are the product of both.

Inkberrow said...

What was Darwin's surname?
