Diplomacy, even more than early twentieth century English house-parties, requires hypocrisyWell, no. Dominance requires hypocrisy. And to be fair, diplomacy is generally in the service of dominance, either those who currently have it, or those who are currently seeking it. Hypocrisy in this context has to do not at all with polite fictions, but rather with deliberate, ongoing, and calculated dishonesty in the pursuit of advantage and power. Pretending not to hear an inadvertant fart at the dinner table is obviously not the same thing at all as, say, the US and Saudi Arabia hatch backroom plots, or while European governments secretly urge America to act in their own martial interest even as they publicly crow about how much more peaceful they are than the trigger-happy Americans. The people who read the latest wikileaked documents and proclaim that they simply show what we already know--that diplomats' delicately crafted public stance of politesse do not reflect their true feelings or the honest positions of the governments they represent--are making the same claims as those who read the dumped Iraq War documents and proclaimed that therein was found nothing new. But obviously in both cases what is "new" is not the plot, but the documentary evidence.

Now that's what I call effective SEO.
It's not hypocrisy at all. it is calculated dishonesty in the pursuit of advantage and power. No one is surprised that diplomats call each other names behind one another's back or that sunnis hate iran or that the US spies on the UN. Documents are leaked because people have points to make. Other people use the documents to prove their own points. They use calculated dishonesty in the pursuit of advantage. It is all self-serving, self-evident, twaddle spewed from the infected belly of the beast.
drip
the documentary evidence
I'm puzzled by this statement. Is this for the benefit of the great swathe of America who don't give a shit because it's shopping season?
Or is this directed at an Iran, for instance, which suddenly awoke from a slumber and was horrified that the policy of the US and its allies is regime change.
it's for my benefit, so while riding down the street to grab a sandwich i can hear someone on npr moaning about how this is the nine-eleven of global diplomacy, leaving me with a big smile on my face for a moment.
It's like what Lenin said... you look for the person who will benefit, and... you know what I'm trying to say.
This is a great post ,this is the useful information for me.I thanks for your sharing.best wishes.
Maybe I'm just channeling Friedman's squashed world or whatever, but I think it's cool that there's an Indian dude hired to post spam on your blog. 1000 years ago, could they even fathom that in their wildest dreams?
Jesus, Tiff, IOZ is never gonna throw money your way when you suck his dick ahead of time.
"European governments secretly urge America to act in their own martial interest even as they publicly crow about how much more peaceful they are than the trigger-happy Americans."
Yes, thank you. And how about a mention of smug European horn blowing about their general moral superiority and goodness while at the same time behaving in the US "free market" just as badly as any any criminal wal st enterprise. OH! and they are mostly a bunch of supertious bigots too. The English love to go on about how much they love respect and adore black people, but you may notice how much they hate and revile west asians. Same with French&Germans with Arab people.
cunts gonna cunt, Monsieur.
Thanks a lot for a bunch of good tips. I look forward to reading more on the topic in the future. Keep up the good work! This blog is going to be great resource. Love reading it.
What troubles me is the hope some new documentary evidence will be the magic bullet. The is already ample documentary evidence re: US imperial crimes. Has been for decades. It's silence about the evidence that's the problem. But perhaps the highprofile nature of wikileaks will make the difference. We'll see.
@Mr Funbutmental @3:27
WHAT THE HELL does that mean?
Somtimes you say things, but they only make sense if you are like, Ed MacMahon to the IOZ Johnny Carson.
I am glad to post my views and points in this blog, Blogs are becoming the main source of knowing about things certainty, its importance, idolizing, either in a marketing way that one can differentiate. I enjoyed to be at here because one of my point has been cleared here.
