I think it is not enough to fire underperforming teachers. We must expel underperforming students! Indeed, we must persistently eliminate underperformers, starting at the bottom and, having eliminated the bottom, moving on to the new bottom. We must continue firing the poorest performing teachers and expelling the worst performing students until we have eliminated all the teachers and all the students. In a distant parking lot between the high school and the football field, a single, rusty Pontiac shrugs its dull shoulders against the grim February rain in Pennsylvania. Inside, the old pool is half-evaporated. It laps against the painted depth markers. The distant echoes of the beautiful boys who once awoke early to come to this place, rising before dawn and kissing their mothers' soft cheeks, in whose lanes their arms wheeled in parallel until the first bell rang and they pulled themselves from the cold water, smelling of chlorine, and towelled their hair, and went to homeroom curl like mist against the tiled walls. In the hallway, a single janitor pushes a long broom. Overhead, above the roof, angling the plane of its wings awkwardly as if jerking on the end of a filament, a red-tailed hawk rises and rises, until, in the weeds below the field house, a mouse rustles a reed, and the bird dives like the very avatar of death, like the first claw piercing the first flesh, back when the world was new.

After you mentioned the Pontiac, I was sure you'd refer to the movie "Christine" (not the book - the movie), even though my memory tells me that Christine is actually some other make of car, in both the book and the movie. Why was there no reference to "Christine"?
So, dude, sounds like you were on the swim team.
Well it figures that you would be in favor of "moving on to the new bottom."

Dear George,
I thought my two recent editorial comments might have pricked your conscience, but never in my wildest dreams did I think they might motivate you to heights such as those you've attained in this post.
The two Thomas's have sat up in their graves, tears streaking into the holes that used to be their cheeks from sockets that used to house their eyes ...
I suppose it's alright if you hang on to the current beau ... he doesn't seem to have impeded your recovery from a spell of "phoning it in" ...
Very best regards as always,
Foxhall Edwards
It's like if Ivan Illich were the protagonist in Fallout 3.
Shouldn't the underperforming janitors be fired too?
mistah charley: or at least outsourced to a temp agency which hires only undocumented "aliens" who work hard and do the bidding of their betters with no complaint.
Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery.
That was pretty good.
I'd pay actual money to read IOZ on American Pastoral.
Not by the line, you understand. I'm not a fucking millionaire.
Not just pastoral: elegiac, too. My two favorite modes. Et in Arcadia ego. You a fan of Poussin at all, IOZ?
Also I like swimming pools and red-tailed hawks. A tip o' the hat.
We tied onions on our belts, which was the custom at the time.
You a fan of Poussin at all, IOZ?
Please stop with this shite, you upper middle class wankers.
Needs sound: Off in the distance a wildcat did growl.
OK, then
Les Sanglots longs

it is.

KRon, distant echoes curl like mist!
See what we have here are the elites struggling against two incompatible views, secular and religious. The scientific fact that there are genetic differences between racial groups, resulting in IQ disparity among said groups, and the modern progressive faith (aka, Equality of Result).
There is not enough money in the world, not enough bureaucratic oversight committees they could create, to clear their minds of the cognitive dissonance. But they try.
That very model worked really for Enron.
Talk about struggling against reality. Why are all the wankers currently babbling about racial superiority always such obvious genetic misfits themselves?
It's not 'superiority', that's a value judgement. It's 'IQ disparity among racial group averages', which is a verified fact. And policy which ignores facts, leads to farce.
Why are all those who can't understand how genetics plays a part in brain development (and hence IQ) such low IQ folk themselves? Wait, that isn't fair, I can't prove that. It's just Brian M.
Ah, ts, thanks for that passage. It brings tears to my eyes every time.
Dang, ts.
Who wrote that? Reminds me of Harry Middleton's "On the Spine of Time."
scott douglas,
OK; then needs foreboding sound.

Whereas you are, of course, a published researcher who intimately understands all the factors involved in "intelligence", including how genetics plays the primary, nay, only defining role in "IQ". You are not some internet wanker who grabs onto tentative science published by fellow questionable scholars to bolster your own self-satisfied and smug myths of racial superiority?
That's assuming there is such an esily definable thing as "IQ" meaningful in any sense other than, again, to explain why you think the darkies should stick to servant positions that serve their betters.
I stand corrected, sir. I stand corrected before teh awesome gasp of teh SCIENCE exhibited by an anonymous poster who sticks his racist ravings into the middle of a thread where it is barely, just barely relevant. Unless your point is if we just kept the darkies down on the plantation, then the n%$#ers test scores would not be diluting the intellectual glory of the Master Race? If that is the case, just come right out and say it, man.
You are the one ranting and spewing spittle all over the place with some strange concern about plantations. It's a fact that men, on average, are physically stronger than women, and yet we've found a way to keep women out of weak people concentration camps. In fact, there's really no issue with this fact being accepted by all rational people (except perhaps when progressives try to interfere in hiring practices where strength plays a factor). So the acceptance of the fact that blacks, on average, have a lower IQ than whites and asians, does not entail anything except the removal of educational goals that are not attainable. You are of course free to pick cotton if you wish, but no one here is talking about force. What's your emotional attachment to the faith-based belief that all groups are exactly the same in all ways?
Confusing gender dimorphism with biological race is fun and interesting.
If we just kill the bottom third of the human race (however we want to define the bottom third) and thereafter continue to exterminate the then bottom third, I think the universe would be improved. The stupid young fuckers on my lawn also would no longer be pests.
Confusing analogy with equivalency is beneath you.
what is the significance of disparities in IQ? leave race out of it. the wrong is that every person's time isn't valued equally.
Anon 4:40--
You appeal to science for your beliefs, but it's abundantly clear that you're no scientist yourself.
Didn't anyone ever warn you against making wild extrapolations from limited data sets?
Considering one's false equivalency mere bad analogy New Black.
Limited data sets? It's not my fault they are only 15% of the population. Of course, such results are not limited to the US.

Citing vdare? Lulz
Citing Rushton in vdare is like a Johnny Weir-style triple-lulz.
Still offering money for IOZ to review the book, even though I know British money is worth sweeties these days.
I'd rather he did it voluntarily, of course, but I'm not receptive to requests myself. Lazy, me.
