We're Gonna Need More Ribbons

The real world heaps me, it taxes me today, so I'll just mention in passing that Egypt is now a military dictatorship and we are still fucking bombing Libya.

Bombing? The preferred nomenclature is preventing genocide committed by scary negro mercenaries.

Yeah, but Qaddaffi's days are numbered.

Meanwhile, Scott Lemieux over at LGM flirts with a revelation, only to cast it aside and go home to drunk dial an ex:

"Finally, I think one reason we’re talking past one another is that Glenn seems particularly concerned with the question of what Obama really believes or wants. Essentially, my position on this is that it’s both unknowable and largely irrelevant, most importantly because for elected officials principle and political viability are inextricably intertwined. Is the ACA exactly what Obama would have wanted and enacted if he was a Prime Minister in a Westminster system? I’m skeptical, but maybe Glenn is right, and I can’t prove that he isn’t. But since, especially in light of Lieberman’s goalpost shifting, nobody has explained how 60 votes for the public option were obtainable it also doesn’t matter. Obama would have signed legislation with a public option and had little leverage over most of the conservative Democrats who didn’t want one and didn’t care if the bill went down, and that’s what matters."

It's almost as if any system of political power, whether chaired by a noble philosopher king or a craven corporate puppet, will produce results that favor the powerful. It's as if there's some sort of institutional force that ... it ... wait ... *blergVoteDemocratblerg*

And Barack has no proven the truth of farce by ordering Assad out of Syria.

Of course you can't prove he isn't. He writes on things that are outside the scope of proof, in the realm of conjecture. Who fuckin' cares what The Secret Obama Heart desires? That's another take on the 12-dimensional Chess argument. It's just more proof that Greenwald is more impressed with himself than he ought to be, and that his fans love to imagine the naked emperor's new robes are made of the finest and rarest textiles.

I believe that should read "Egypt is still a military dictatorship."

O fans of Wall Street's multicult Brother Cool for his own sake can't handle the truth for its own sake.

Keep at 'em Glenn.

Mr. IOZ, please allow me to correct you on the goings on in Libya. What the United States is engaged in is a kinetic military action, and not bombing per se. My administration would appreciate it if, in the future, you refrained from using such counterproductive words like "bombing".

Egypt was largely a military dictatorship beforehand. Now it's a military dictatorship with a restive population. So, I'd say that's a new win so far.

But, yes, we are still bombing Libya.

And, in related news, Juan Cole is still censoring my comments on his blog.

"net win" not "new win"

as opposed to a dictator dictatorship or a pharaohic dictatorship? are we gonna split hairs here?

Ooh, testy today, are we? Never mind, soon Libya will be a democratic dictatorship and America will be bombing Syria instead.

I seem to recall that hope and change were promised, and surely the man delivers.

Rojo: censored comments? why bicker over the service, when the food itself is such a delight? Like this little amuse-bouche:

"I fear that NBC is being used by US intelligence for psy-ops purposes, since the report strikes me as highly unlikely to be true."

Used by US intelligence! Psy-ops purposes! Mainstream media! He paid for her dinner and she ended up sleeping with him; ergo, she's a prostitute.
