"Of all miracles, the greatest is that anything exists at all." - Gustav Fechner, pioneering experimental psychophysicist
Our friends at Wikipedia tell us:
Though he had a vast influence on psychophysics, the actual disciples of his general philosophy were few. Among them, however, was William James, who, in 1904, wrote an admiring introduction to the English translation of Fechner's Büchlein vom Leben nach dem Tode (Little Book of Life After Death). Fechner's world concept was highly animistic. He felt the thrill of life everywhere, in plants, earth, stars, the total universe. Man stands midway between the souls of plants and the souls of stars, who are angels. God, the soul of the universe, must be conceived as having an existence analogous to men. Natural laws are just the modes of the unfolding of God's perfection. In his last work Fechner, aged but full of hope, contrasts this joyous "daylight view" of the world with the dead, dreary "night view" of materialism.
Fechner's work in aesthetics is also important. He conducted experiments to show that certain abstract forms and proportions are naturally pleasing to our senses, and gave some new illustrations of the working of aesthetic association. Charles Hartshorne saw him as a predecessor on his and Alfred North Whitehead's philosophy and regretted that Fechner's philosophical work had been neglected for so long.
,oh this reminds me..,trip,.. of his noting ..my dogs don't blawg ..to just'n ..because he...because he/j.mccarthy .. doesn't know what is going on/of... in their lovely minds .. .and i ..of mind ..revisiting the thought in a different way ..up below puppy with the lovely cover bonnet here ..above right.. i thought of something of .. them tending the bar though..like their gay bowling daddy does in some way .. more in a bit on that . .../ oh ..and paul isn't slow..he's just really funny . ..
Reminds me of the old politically incorrect joke about the black driver who would only work for The Chosen People cause they loves to blow the shofar ...
Come to think of it, could our rascally and devious host have been hinting at that or a similar allusuion ?
,of the last nony .. when i came in ..in the wee hours last night .. nylons not nylon but coton ..a balling trail in my hand .. . my first thought on reading that was a sexual one .. . but there is so much mis miss reading to be done out there .. who knows .. .
she comes in and looks wide eyed at the whois ' comments .. . oh my ..how did they know that i was just out with a very large,tall.. romanian man .. / okay davidly has been blowing my mind enough today .. . what do you mean toast of games .. . i only like messing with wording and commas .. .and drops ?
Oh, anne, I'm thinkin Gilberte Doinel (Antoine's mom, played by Claire Maurier) rollin down her stockins in front of Antoine ...
Thanks for revivin' that long-buried memory ...
And P.S - Considerin' the activity our host says he's gonna be engaged in, it's kind of fitting that Truffaut's movie played in the US under the English title "The 400 Blows". Do you see the spancel in which you've encircled this thread, anne? We will now call you MorgAnne le Fay, the house sorceress chez IOZ.
I'm completely new here. I've just read through the comments. WTF! I do understand that isolation can breed its own lexica, but you folks make THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE seem like a walk in the park.
john 3:11, but there are more than a few people that i need to address ..through here ..of this galley .. no money for stamps .. and hands of a bird's flutter ..to go with this mind ,of flutter ..not made for letters ..writing .. ..and whois is away ..and it's just one post ..
of pointing out the poem ..thank you ..yet another nony .. .i will show it to the friend ,much older ..that i was just out with over the last few hours ..sitting out of the rain ..in a cafe having wine talking ...he will get quite a start of strange emotions seeing how the wording of some of the lines in that poem are so similar to something that he said to me this evening .. thank you again.. /too many nonys
i've been here since what .. 07? i don't think i've ever seen something so close to an open thread.
and paul, this blog has probably referenced every single line in the big lebowski, in varying contexts.
i lived next door to a girl named anne as a child. some months ago she told my mother that i'd left my passport at the grocery store help desk down the street from my apartment.
Well anne 5:03, I abide by the precept that fluttering is the root of all misunderstanding. No matter. No doubt you have other, more endearing qualities. Au revoir.
respj rat , ..fellow that seemed to say anne in his comment for some unknown ..maybe even to him..reason..., you make in sound like you were deliberate in leaving your passport at the HELP desk..at that shop.. / ..and what did you mean by ..more like an open thread ..said the girl that doesn't get out much .. what are your ideas around what a thread is..? she said as one wrapped around her ankle in her flutter / and paul is just very funny as i said before ..
,and toast ,.. of a comment way back . i tried to send a question of science ...to you ...but i'm no tech ..and had no knowing of where it may have landed ..it said.. shew .. please don't feel too perplexed..
anne, first my name is a mutation of respirate, the j is german (so resp-yer-aht), so it's a y, but if i used a y people would say respy-rat, of course they say resp-jay-rat instead, but i find this a more agreeable error.
if i remember correct i used my passport for identification so i could cash a check to buy some drugs, since i had no license at the time after an unfortunate incident with my car and a pedestrian. the passport itself is a replacement for my first, which i lost but never found.
as for an open thread, it doesn't pertain to getting out unless you count other, shitty blogs as getting out. your mention of some romanian man betray your statement anyway, you get out at least a little. an open thread is one with no original content, just an expectation of comments, about drivel mostly, which explains most of my post. check out shakesville for direct examples, they love that shit over there.
resp.t ,i'm not one to talk at length in comments ..there is something of coding,as some john suggests here , in the way i write .. remember a lot of folks wander through here .. a few also know me ..whose names i have not mentioned . /of the romanian ..i was taking a wild guess .. at what c'O was saying .. ,yes i do get out ..a little .. ,
,of nony ,just before 11,last night .. i'd take the wee ones,of hotels ..from my brother's board gaming ..and glue them down there somewhere ..if i ever went that way .. but i don't go that way ..ever .. ..too in love with the pooling of the lakes and trees here.. ,
Amazing, this really is gorgeous. Think about every one of the looking at as well as composing you could do... Chilly in the winter months though. Buy Diablo 3 Items cheap diablo 3 Gold

Fucking BABY...
Enjoy this family restaurant, but watch out for philosoraptors. Word is they can open doors now (besides just the doors of perception).
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That's Walter from the movie the Big Lebowski! Is Monsieur a fan?
Uh, misperception. Some of us still haven't had our coffee yet.

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
John 3:11
Truly, I tell you with certainty, we know what we're talking about, and we testify about what we've seen. Yet you people do not accept our testimony.

If it's all the same to you, anne, I think I'll skip this little get together, slip out with the boys and knock back a couple of Coca Colas.
Paul Alexander,
Please refrain from sarcasm as I don't want to read 5 comments from people explaining to you that, in fact, IOZ does like the Big Lebowski. kthxbye!
Seriously. Those guys are like a child that walks into the middle of a blawg...
toast, ..but i'm like a child that walks in to a blawg . ..what do you mean by those guys (men) ?

The Occupy Wall Street hippies took IOZ's platform of going slow in the left lane to heart.
IOZ better hurry back before Anne puts hotels on Boardwalk and Park Place ...
Everything's a fuckin' travesty with you, man
