"It would be almost impossible for Iran to shoot down an RQ-170 because it is stealthy, therefore, the Iranian air defenses can't see it," Loren Thompson, an analyst at the Lexington Institute in Arlington, Va., told the Military Times newspaper.

Lulz.

This is my favorite line:

"An RQ-170 was used to gather intelligence for the raid that killed Osama bin Laden in a Pakistan safe house earlier this year."

It's like US Weekly mentioning the brand of peep-toe slingbacks that Hayden Panittiere wore on the red carpet of the People's Choice Awards.

“Ask Osama bin Laden and the 22-out-of-30 top al Qaeda leaders who’ve been taken off the field whether I engage in appeasement. Or whoever is left out there, ask them about that.”

What got me was the reference to a "desecrated" version of the American flag. Since when is the flag sacred? Don't have to look very far for idolatry these days; old Amos, Jeremaih, and the rest of that crowd would be right at home, and a simple search and replace would update their rants for America circa 2011.

Yes, only Serbians have the eyesight capability for that.

Another howler today:

"Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and other international leaders urged countries and private businesses on Thursday to fight increasing efforts to restrict access to the Internet by repressive governments and even some democratic ones."

The Grey Lady has no sense of irony.

with regard to this drone, over at Moon of Alabama it is stated that because of the signal delay time, takeoff and landing is handled by local radio remote control, whereas mission control during flight is via satellite-carried signals from the U.S. It is speculated that somehow the Iranians were able to block the satellite signal, then take over the drone and make it land. Since the lower part of the machine was not displayed, there was probably some damage to the landing gear.

May the Iranians and the Americans be well, happy, and at peace.
