Leonhardt was never my favorite, but he was a titan and did as much as any single person to revive the Baroque and begin to retrieve classical music from its bloat and gigantism.
Ya know what's funny - if you walked into a deli and some old Yiddish alte kake in conversation at the counter just so happened to say "Nu?" at that moment, you'd think he was asking if it's you ...
I was never a big fan either but it can certainly be said of the guy that he was devoted to the music, and one knows lots of people who were devoted to him. Sit levis terra.
Bach! I love Bach. If you do away with the pretentious crap that sometimes goes with baroque and classical music you can begin to love it. The Brandenburg concerto does transport one to another world. Of course, some good smoke to go with it doesn’t hurt.

I have no idea what you mean by bloat and gigantism, but ok thanks for the memorial.
I'm curious too--Wagner? The chromatic scale? Rudolf Serkin throwing his hands up and down?
Modulo Myself

Why aren't you going dark to support opposition to SOPA?
Liked his Bach harpsichord concertos a lot--his Well-Tempered Klavier is a bit inconsistent. But, as you say, a giant.
