Open thread!

Hey, speaking of crazy religions... howsabout progressivism? Did y'all catch the story of the Asian rape gang in England? It seems that several of the victims (there were perhaps up to 50) had attempted to get the police and/or social workers to do something. But the police and social workers were too PC-whipped to act. The victims -- girls -- were ignored.

One 13-year-old victim became pregnant and had the child aborted while another was raped by 20 men in one night, Liverpool Crown Court heard. Complaints to social workers and the police were ignored because they were "petrified of being called racist"...

A 13 year old! One might think that it would be easy to prove that men having sex with a 13 year old were breaking the law.

One victim even gave the police DNA samples:

Girl A told police that she had been raped and provided DNA evidence from her attacker. The CPS twice decided not to prosecute him. As a result, the 15 year-old's abuse continued. At its height she was driven to flats and houses to be raped by up to five men a night, four or five days a week. She was singled out because she was white, vulnerable and under-age.

So the gang rapes continued for another two years.

Investigating gang rape is less important than not seeming racist. Talk about your crazy religions!

Leonard talking about women & girls (but, really, between you and me, about the goddamned Pakis or whatever). Will wonders never cease?

Why blame the PC, Leonard? The only thing substantiating that explanation is the claims of one politician. And who knows what her agenda is? Why not blame the patriarchy? It is rape after all. And one all-purpose, imprecise political narrative is as good as the next.

Sorry Leonard, acolytes of that same religion guard this open thread as well. The story has absolutely nothing to do with certain groups engaging in vibrant cultural activities, it has everything to do with MEN! Mostly white men, who ruin everything.

The Chinaman is not the issue.

Marty lives in an apartment in New York City, has never been on a horse, and the only cow he ever saw was a hamburger.

Look if you can say anything about the Old Bill its that they are incredibly sensitive about being PC and not wanting to offend anybody...

Earlier this week I received a book I ordered from Amazon. It is by John Hick and titled The Metaphor of God Incarnate: Christology in a Pluralistic Age. According to the book publisher:

In this groundbreaking work, John Hick refutes the traditional Christian understanding of Jesus of Nazareth. According to Hick, Jesus did not teach what was to become the orthodox understanding of him: that he was God incarnate who became human to die for the sins of the world. Further, the traditional dogma of Jesus’ two natures–human and divine–cannot be explained satisfactorily, and worse, it has been used to justify great human evils. Thus, the divine incarnation, he explains, is best understood metaphorically. Nevertheless, he concludes that Christians can still understand Jesus as Lord and the one who has made God real to us. This second edition includes new chapters on the Christologies of Anglican theologian John Macquarrie and Catholic theologian Roger Haight, SJ.

God I love Marty Robbins.

So, the entire evidence for the police being too "PC-whipped" to do anything is that one MP figures that that's probably the most likely explanation, based on, as far as I can tell, nothing but the police's well-earned reputation for excessive racial sensitivity.

Fair enough, I guess. I'm not entirely sure why this is more convincing than the alternate explanation that the prosecutors just didn't take the word of a young girl at all seriously, or any other speculation based on nothing but your personal opinions on Asians, men, police, prosecutors, 13 year old girls, or any other group involved.

Personally, I blame the fact that everybody involved was British. You know how those people are.

In other words, you don't want to think about it. "A ring of motivated ignorance". Tolerance for minority rape gangs hurts the liberal brain.

It's too bad the police are so scared to accuse minorities of committing crimes.

Funny how fear of being called racist doesn't stop the London police from killing people of color. I think some other factor must be involved.
